This video recording captures the official launch webinar of the IHP-WINS (Intergovernmental Hydrological Programme – Water Information Network System), held on 28 April 2025. The event introduces IHP-WINS as UNESCO’s open-access platform for water-related data sharing, visualization, and collaboration. It features keynote presentations from UNESCO experts and Water Family partners on the importance of open science and digital water governance. Platform features such as the Data Catalogue, Geospatial Viewer, Thematic Viewers, and the Open Learning Platform are demonstrated. Real-world use cases from Korea, the ICWRGC, the Horn of Africa, and UNESCO Chairs highlight practical applications of IHP-WINS. The webinar concludes with a live demonstration of data contribution workflows and an invitation to join the IHP-WINS Task Force.

This presentation was delivered during the official launch webinar of the IHP-WINS platform on 28 April 2025. It introduces the vision, mission, and strategic relevance of the Intergovernmental Hydrological Programme – Water Information Network System (IHP-WINS) as a tool to bridge the water data-knowledge gap. It provides a comprehensive overview of key platform features, including the Data Catalogue, Geospatial and Thematic Viewers, Open Learning Platform, and Internet of Things (IoT) integration. Four use cases illustrate practical applications—from national real-time monitoring in the Republic of Korea and global water quality datasets by ICWRGC, to transboundary groundwater management via GaFa-MIS in Eastern Africa and citizen science initiatives supported by UNESCO Chairs. The presentation concludes with a demonstration of how to contribute data to IHP-WINS and a call to join the IHP-WINS Task Force.
