The Ocotepeque-Citala Aquifer is a small alluvial transboundary aquifer shared by Honduras and El Salvador. It is located in a mountainous valley and is characterised by strong links between groundwater and surface water, in this specific case the transboundary Río Lempa.

This layer presents the ratio of female learners to school toilets in 100 schools in 3 provinces of El Salvador. On average, 56 male learners share one toilet, whereas 51 female learners share the same toilet. From our responses, 9 schools indicated they had no toilet facilities, and data is missing for 3 schools.

This map provides information on Total Dissolved Solids (TDS) in mg/L in the Ocotepeque-Citala Aquifer in dry season (April).

The Trifinio Fraternidad transboundary biosphere reserve is a tri-national biosphere reserve located between El Salvador, Guatemala and Honduras. It is the first transboundary biosphere reserve in Central America and represents a major contribution to implementation of the Mesoamerican Corridor.
